Old School Cool…Books!
Since leisure is the goal, what could be more relaxing than reading? It’s become incredibly popular in recent years thanks to TikTok showing that reading is fun and cool kids can do it too. Seriously though, when you’re in Mount Desert Island, you have to go to the oldest bookstore in Maine: Sherman’s Books & Stationary. You can go there to make your own viral TikTok, or just stock up on some amazing books to enjoy while it snows in winter or while looking over a lake in summer. Regardless of your time of visit, Sherman’s is a must-visit for sure.

A Unique Steampunk-y Stop
Often times people go visit a place for the sake of getting a taste of the specialized culture in the area. The most obvious way to appreciate a location’s unique culture is through the artists of the location. That’s why it’s a requirement to visit Ernie’s Sculptures in Bar Harbor. Everything there is specifically curated and created by Ernie himself. There are only two ways to get your hands on these unique sculptures. First off, is visiting the shop in person. The second is through Ernie’s eBay shop. These are collectible and unlike anything you could get anywhere else in the world. There’s only one Ernie, so get one while you can.

A Special Little Gift Shop
A top reason people get stuff at gift shops is to maintain the memory of the visit. When you are enjoying the beauty of Acadia National Park, there’s a special place to get your gear to always hold that memory with you, and that is Little Village Gifts in Bar Harbor. They don’t have a website, so it’s a real surprise to wall in the shop and explore the unique gifts they offer. Little Village Gifts is home to the typical shirts and mugs that adorn gift shop walls, but there is also the specialty of art you can’t find anywhere else to make your visit memorable. So, stop by and commemorate your visit.
